Ariana Agustines

Ariana Agustines is a marine scientist who is passionately curious about the natural world and determined to advance conservation strategies and sustainable management of marine megafauna, particularly elasmobranchs (sharks and rays) in Southeast Asia. She currently supervises and runs LAMAVE’s shark and ray conservation work across the country with her focus in Palawan, where she has been based since 2018. She is a National Geographic Explorer and was the team leader of the OET Nautilus E/V Meridian 2021 project "Mālama Māno: Integration of Ancestral Intelligence with AI for Shark Conservation in Papahānaumokuākea National Monument,”. An avid diver, she is a certified Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Divemaster, Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) technical diver, and International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers (IANTD) cave diver.
