Reaching out and sharing knowledge
We understand that not everyone can visit a conservation research site, but we do believe that everyone can be involved in conservation. Our outreach programs target the general public as well as specific populations of people. A key focus for us is providing training and workshops for early to mid career scientists.
Workshops
WORKSHOPS
TELEMETRY WORKSHOP
Philippine Association Marine Science 2019 (PAMS), Aklan, July 3, 2019
Using satellite and acoustic technologies to understand animal movement and habitat use for marine conservation.
VISUAL STORYTELLING
Explorer Encounters: Conservation Storytelling in the Digital Age, Manila, August 2018
This workshop showed the audience how visual storytelling can create an emotional connection between the subject and the audience, and at its best, how it can advance conservation goals, inspire people to take action, and change their behaviour.
Thanks to our friends at Masungi Georeserve for inviting us.
Conferences
RUFFORD SMALL GRANTS CONFERENCE
Enhancing Biodiversity Conservation in the Philippines, Manila, 6-7 February 2020
Co-hosted and funded by the Rufford Foundation this conference brought together previous Rufford Grantees, conservationists, academics and field researchers, both terrestrial and marine from across the Philippines.
The goal of the conference was to share ideas, and build on a network to reach conservation goals by working together.
Stranding Training
STRANDING RESCUE & RESPONSE TRAINING
As part of our effort to protect marine wildlife we train community stakeholders to respond and rescue stranded marine animals. You can find out more about this initiative HERE.
Public Events
Where possible our team joins public events supporting marine conservation initiatives. Interacting with the public as well as different groups of people is an amazing opportunity to get more people behind our mission and support wider conservation efforts. Recent events we’ve been part of include:
Asia Dive Expo (ADEX), Singapore
Shark Summit, Philippines
Shark Fest, UK
