Volunteer Manager
Brief Description:
LAMAVE is searching for a Volunteer Manager (VM) with excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities that will allow the NGO to expand its reach and impact regionally and globally. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing a marketing strategy and recruiting local and international volunteers, as well as scholars to join and support LAMAVE’s research projects and managing the process of on-boarding for their placements. The VM will work closely with our project leaders to ensure qualified applicants are assigned to our conservation projects. The VM will also be responsible for updating current and creating new materials to support the on-boarding and orientation of the volunteer placement. The VM responsibility will also include to grow and enhance our current community of past volunteers (over 200) engaging them as ambassadors for the NGO and in collaboration with the fundraising officers and comms team to encourage individual awareness and fundraising campaigns to support the LAMAVE mission.

Project Leader
Marine Turtle Nesting Beach Monitoring & Conservation Project
Brief Description:
LAMAVE is looking for a Co-Project Leader to join our Marine Turtle Nesting Monitoring and Conservation Project to do research and monitoring of marine turtles in nesting beaches in the province of Palawan and in particular for this year, in the Municipality of San Vicente. After the successful season this year, we will be carrying on with our monitoring in the area closely collaborating with local stakeholders for the continuous conservation and management of marine turtles.
The Co-Project Leader will be managing the day-to-day fieldwork and outputs of the project and work closely with LAMAVE senior staff to ensure all the research goals are reached. The role includes managing and mentoring the Research Assistant and a team of local and foreign volunteers. The chosen individual will be involved in data collection, validation, organization, and will be required to train and oversee the work of local patrollers in the study site. In addition, the Project Leader will also be in-charge in coordinating and setting up the project house in San Vicente, Palawan. This position is ideal for someone who has a background in marine science and is interested in gaining experience in fieldwork management and research, and establishing community ties for conservation work.

Research Assistant
Marine Turtle Nesting Beach Monitoring & Conservation Project
Brief Description:
LAMAVE is looking for two (2) Research Assistants to join our Marine Turtle Nesting Beach Monitoring and Conservation Project to do research and monitoring of marine turtles in nesting beaches in the North of Palawan. After the successful season this year, we will be carrying on with our monitoring in the area closely collaborating with local stakeholders for the continuous conservation and management of marine turtles.
The Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Project Leader in running the research base and ensuring research goals are achieved within LAMAVE standards. Since the project will be field-based, the Research Assistant is expected to provide support in coordinating and setting up the project in the study site. The position is ideal for someone who is flexible, adaptable to project needs and fit to do extensive physical work in the field. The Research Assistant will also be counted on to assist in the various scientific, community, and educational activities that LAMAVE is involved with. This position requires excellent observational, communication, active listening skills, and a keen interest in marine conservation.

Project Leader
Whale Shark Research & Conservation Project
Brief Description:
LAMAVE is looking for a Project Leader to join our team in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte and Donsol, Sorsogon studying the local whale shark ecology and population dynamics as well as monitoring tourism operations and compliance to local codes of conduct. Since 2013, we have been monitoring and assessing the seasonal distribution and habitat use of whale sharks in Southern Leyte and collaborating with the local community-led whale shark tour operators and dive resorts for the sustainable management of the whale shark tourism operations. Following the Southern Leyte season, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to transfer to the whale shark project site in Donsol, Sorsogon- managing the team in this location for the season.

Research Assistant
Whale Shark Research & Conservation Project
Brief Description:
LAMAVE is looking for a Research Assistant to join our team in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte and Donsol, Sorsogon studying whale shark ecology and human-shark interaction. This project aims to assess and monitor the population structure, seasonal distribution, and habitat use of whale sharks in the area, as well as supporting the local community to adopt sustainable tourism operations. Following the Southern Leyte season, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to transfer to the whale shark project site in Donsol, Sorsogon- managing the team in this location for the season.
The Research Assistant will be heavily involved in the communication and coordination with local communities, supporting project/house management and operations, management of international volunteers, and data management and analysis. They will be working closely with the Project Leader to engage with the stakeholders in meetings and consultations, and will also be creating and executing information education campaign (IEC) workshops to facilitate the collection of qualitative research and outreach aspects of the project. This position entails rigorous attention to detail, a keen interest in marine conservation, knowledge in data processing and analysis, and strong interpersonal skills. They must be an excellent communicator and comfortable with interacting, managing, and facilitating conflict resolution with a diverse group of people from various nationalities. They will also be counted on to assist in the various scientific, community, and educational activities that LAMAVE is involved with.
