Jess grew up in Iligan, Mindanao, before embarking on a degree and career in IT in Manila. Realising her passion for marine conservation, she quit her job and shifted careers. She is the co-founder of the Large Marine Vertebrates Research Institute Philippines, an NGO dedicated to the conservation of marine megafauna in Southeast Asia. Jess plays a vital role in LAMAVE’s in-country strategy as well as on-the-ground impact. She is currently leading LAMAVE’s Rapid By-catch Assessment Project across multiple sites in the country. She is a Blue Pioneers 2020 Fellow.
