Vote for LAMAVE!

LAMAVE have been selected as finalists to receive funding from the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA), but we need your help to ensure we win the public vote!

If you can spare 20 seconds, then you can directly help support shark conservation in the Philippines - it's a no brainer - what are you waiting for?! Vote now for Sharks: Umbrella Species for Coral Reef Restoration, Philippines.

LAMAVE is passionate about our oceans and the people who depend on them. Winning this funding will enable our team to continue our work in Cagayancillio, an archipelago that is home to some of the last hammerhead sharks in the country. The island is transitioning between fishing and tourism - however sharks need better protection and local people are in need of training. Crucially this funding will enable our team to:

  • tag grey reef, tiger and hammerhead sharks, to find out how they use the costal waters, then use this information to design and implement complete protection in key shark areas.

  • train local fishermen to become "Shark Wardens" and dive guides (providing alternative livelihood opportunities for former fishermen in the advent of growing dive tourism in the area)

Voting takes 20 seconds and doesn't require a signup! Click the "vote now" button below, then scroll to the bottom of the page to vote for - Sharks: Umbrella Species for Coral Reef Restoration, Philippines.

A full summary of the project - Sharks: Umbrella Species for Coral Reef Restoration, Philippines - is available on the EOCA website. We cannot do this work without you. Thank you for you vote and your continued support in LAMAVE, from all of our team and the community of Cagayancillio: Salamat! Thank you!
