Shannon Gitte Diaz
Project Officer: Palawan Marine Turtle Nesting Beach Monitoring and Conservation Project
Shannon’s early fascination with nature conservation documentaries shaped his dedication to environmental activism in his hometown. He joined LAMAVE in 2023 as a National Geographic Society STEM Field Assistant, where he trained in research and conservation techniques while studying turtles, Irrawaddy dolphins and whale sharks. In the same year, he became a full-time Research Assistant at the NGO.
Shannon is now a Project Officer at the Palawan Marine Turtle Nesting Beach Monitoring and Conservation Project, where he takes part in regular patrols along nesting beaches to protect turtle nests and leads information campaigns on marine plastic pollution and turtle conservation in the local community.
