Sharah Barredo

Project Leader: Palawan Marine Turtle Nesting Beach Monitoring & Conservation Project

Driven by her passion for conservation, Sharah took up a BS Aquatic Biology course at Western Philippines University. Her first interest was in invertebrates, mainly focusing on horseshoe crabs. She was also engaged in seagrass, seaweed, and mangrove assessment during her time at the university.

Sharah volunteered with several NGOs that rescued and rehabilitated various faunal species. Little did she know that this would only be her stepping-stone towards a broader impact in conservation.

Sharah joined LAMAVE in 2022 with her proposed study on Marine Turtle Stranding in Palawan for her MSc. She is involved in many activities of the organisation's projects, with a focus on collecting samples and collating present and historical data of marine turtle stranding to augment the sustainability of its protection and management in the province of Palawan through collaboration with different sectors and agencies.
